Modified on Thu, 12 Jun at 1:47 PM

Overview

Wool is naturally flame resistant, making it one of the safest and smartest choices for sleepwear—especially for children. Bumby Wool has always been naturally flame retardant, but now we’re also officially compliant with flammability regulations. No chemicals added, no gimmicks—just certified, science-backed safety.

Naturally Safe for Sleep

Many of you may already know this—but it’s worth repeating: wool is naturally flame retardant. That’s one of the many reasons it makes such an incredible material for sleepwear, blankets, and bedding, especially for babies and kids.

At Bumby, we’ve always taken safety seriously, and we’re excited to share that our wool has passed official flammability testing for sleepwear. That means we now meet all the regulatory requirements needed to say it out loud:
Bumby Wool sleepwear is safe, compliant, and certified.

No Chemicals Needed

Some sleepwear on the market uses chemical flame retardants to meet regulations—especially in synthetic fabrics. Bumby Wool doesn’t. Our garments are:

  • Naturally flame resistant

  • Tested and compliant

  • Free of added chemicals or coatings

What the Testing Shows

Below this article, you’ll find linked documentation showing:

  • The required testing procedures for flammability compliance

  • Sample test results showing Bumby Wool’s performance

  • Videos or photos (optional) simulating real-life flame resistance in action

Spoiler: Our wool didn’t just meet the minimum standard. It didn’t ignite at all.

Because Science is Fun

We’re passionate about sharing the why behind what we do. Wool isn’t just comfy—it’s technically impressive. If you’re a nerd for natural fibers like we are, we think you’ll enjoy seeing how beautifully our material performs under pressure.
